Mental Health

Total Healthcare has a high level of commitment to ensuring patients are receiving a complete healthcare service; one that encompasses their mental and emotional health needs alongside their physical health needs.

We employ a full time psychiatrist and specialist in primary care mental health, Dr David Codyre, full-time experienced health and clinical psychologists.

Chronic Care Management – Depression

Patients are screened for depression and, if eligible, are seen by a doctor to explore ways of dealing with depression, mood swings and other emotional health concerns.

Some people are also able to receive fully funded treatment and back up support from the psychologists. Patients with social needs can also be referred to other agencies that can help. Total Healthcare patients also have access to funded mindfulness courses. Find out how mindfulness helped Papatoetoe patient Mariappa Goundar.

Primary Options for Acute Care Mental Health
This type of assistance is given to prevent a person’s condition worsening and, if possible, to improve it. Many people have gained access to short or long term funded assistance with such things as house cleaning, provision of food staples and child care.
